This year has been very good for seeing the northern lights, especially when we live in central Michigan. Unfortunately living in the small town of Ionia with the lights obscures the awesome show unless you drive out of town. About ten years ago we were camping in the state park just south of town, the wife got up to go to the bathroom and saw an awesome light show so she got me up, very breathtaking show.
Went to Kenya on a camera safari in 1977 and was amazed at how many stars you can see at night when there is literally no light for for miles in any direction….a thousand times more than i could see at night on Long Island……
