Good discussion. Outdoor risk management falls into the “stop having fun” category. Who wants to take the time and effort to do a real risk analysis and plan to mitigate risks? We’re here to have fun! Working in aviation and the energy industry has given me all the tools I need, but I’m probably as bad as most people when it comes to thinking about risk when I get in a white water boat or strap on skis. I’ve probably mentioned it before, but an excellent book on outdoor risk, and human factors that drive risky behavior is “Deep Survival: Who lives and Who Dies and Why” - Gonzalez .
