Maddy, enjoy every moment. I’ll be spending the weekend pressure washing the deck that really needs to be torn down and replaced, but not this year, so I’ll just clean and paint it again to limp it through another year. Also on the list is removing two panels of the wood fence so the new shed can be delivered to the back yard. I’m tired of the kayaks sitting outside year-round and need room for the bikes and outdoor gear. How ironic is it that I’m getting a shed to store the fun stuff, when I should be out enjoying it? When will I fit in recaulking the shower, hmm. Monday brings the planned crossing of the rainbow bridge for our 17 year old beloved Hauser; a very difficult decision.

You’re right about nowhere to be but right there. My life has cycles of adventure. Maybe I’m just not good at balance and end up with months/years of grand adventures and then realize I’ve got a whole summer worth of projects to do at home that I’ve neglected.

My life is blessed. Truly. I’m not complaining at all. I’m sharing my current experience so when you’re having a tough day out there, you hopefully will remember an alternative. You’re in one of the most beautiful places in the world. You’re learning the tides, how the weather patterns tend, the wildlife, and things yet to discover. It’s an amazing grand adventure with great people. I love getting your updates. They help me remember that’s there more out there than how my deck looks. They help me remember my own adventures like kayak camping off B.C from Tofino, shoulder season backpacking Denali NP when only the bears were out, but people weren’t, having Glacier NP & Yellowstone NP to ourselves because we were willing to ski in to camp in the extreme cold with the moose and bison respectively, and even being weekend warriors on the Ice Age Trail during the height of the pandemic when everyone else was staying home.

The adventures in life are all about the past, present, and future. You planned, stressed, and looked forward to this for so long. Enjoy it now. Someday it will be a a memory, and some awesome and hilarious stories! Thank you for taking me along.
